CUHK launches first GMP facility in Hong Kong for cell and gene therapy

CUHK and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation jointly established the Advanced Therapy Products Good Manufacturing Practice Centre in June, which is the first of its kind in Hong Kong. The centre will foster collaboration between government, academic institutions, and the industrial and commercial sectors, with the goal of establishing a world-class cell and gene therapy manufacturing industry in Hong Kong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

CU Medicine has successfully established an internationally accredited biobank. The CU-Med Biobank will be a driving force for the development of biomedicine in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and leading Hong Kong to become an important biomedical research hub in the region. The biobank has received international accreditation from A2LA, making it one of the two biobanks that fulfill the required international standards in the Asia-Pacific region.

AI for the next generation

The Jockey Club AI for the Future Project led by CUHK scholars aims to enrich junior secondary school students’ knowledge of AI and promote the use of AI for social good. The teaching and learning packs developed by the project have been adapted into a new AI module that will soon be launch for use by all publicly-funded schools in Hong Kong.
