CUHK and the University of Manchester (UoM) have established a range of research collaborations to build research capacity in various fields, including regenerative immunology. To complement ongoing collaboration efforts, CUHK’s School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) and UoM’s School of Biological Sciences have launched a bachelor-master study option to allow CUHK students to earn a CUHK BSc degree and a UoM MSc degree in four years. The first cohort of students will commence their studies at UoM in 2023–24.
Under this arrangement, CUHK students will spend their first three years at CUHK and their fourth year at UoM to pursue studies either in Infection Biology or Tissue Engineering for Regenerative Medicine. At UoM, the programme comprises both taught elements and research projects with SBS and UoM faculty members co-supervising the students while they are at UoM.
The initiative will not only strengthen academic collaboration between the two universities, but also allow CUHK students to benefit from an enriched curriculum and a global learning experience in a different cultural setting.
