[Call for Student Participation] APRU International Summer Research Program cum the APRU Annual Presidents’ Meeting (Internal application deadline: 7 March 2025)

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) is now inviting applications from undergraduate and postgraduate students to participate in the International Summer Research Program (ISRP) 2025 to be hosted by the University of California, San Diego in the US in this summer.

 

This 9-week program offers an opportunity to students to engage in cutting-edge research across various fields including engineering, marine sciences, biological sciences, and physical sciences. Students from the ISRP will be selected to join a student panel discussion at the APRU Annual Presidents Meeting (APM) on 24 June.

CUHK will nominate one student to APRU for selection. Details of the program are as follows:

 

APRU International Summer Research Program (ISRP) 2025

Activities
  • Conduct cutting-edge research in a lab of one of UCSD’s preeminent faculty
  • Five students from ISRP will be selected to engage in a student panel discussion at the APM on 24 June
  • Exclusive pre-ISRP activities will be arranged during 21-29 June
Eligibility
  • CUHK full-time undergraduate/postgraduate students who are studying engineering, marine sciences, biological sciences, and physical sciences are welcome to apply
  • Students must ensure their academic background and experience align with the subject matter and pre-requisites required by specific labs, which can be found on the ISRP 2025 Mentor List 
  • Have a good command of English
Cost
  • Program costs of US$5,500 covering on-campus housing for 9 weeks, visa fee, laboratory fee, activities and excursion fee
  • The student is also responsible for air ticket, meals, medical insurance and expenses outside the program, and any other expenses not specified
Funding support
  • Students who are invited to participle in the student panel at the APM will receive a subsidy of US$500 from APRU, and on-campus housing offered by UCSD during 21-29 June

Application Interested students should complete the CUHK online application form form by 7 March (Friday). One CUHK student will be shortlisted for nomination and the final selection rests with the selection committee of ISRP.
