Hong Kong Partners Week: Showcasing Hong Kong as an international education hub
The Hong Kong Partners Week welcomes representatives from 58 partner universities worldwide to foster international collaboration in higher education.
In partnership with seven other UGC-funded universities, the Office of Academic Links hosted the Hong Kong Partners Week during 8-13 December 2024. The event welcomed representatives from 58 universities worldwide to promote the ‘Study in Hong Kong’ brand and showcase the city as an international hub for higher education. Participants learned about the latest developments in Hong Kong, gained firsthand insights into the student exchange experience, and deepened their understanding of the hosting universities.
The week kicked off with a walking tour of Central, followed by a welcome dinner where Prof. James Tang, Secretary-General of the UGC, officially welcomed the participants and shed light on the Hong Kong higher education landscape. The following days were the heart of the Partners Week, where the participants visited the co-organising universities. At CUHK, the group was welcomed by Provost Prof. Alan Chan, received a presentation by the Director of Academic links Ms. Shally Fan and heard experience sharing of incoming students from France and New Zealand. In addition to a tour at the Wu Yee Sun College, another highlight was workshops hosted by the School of Chinese Medicine, where participants made Chinese herbal sachet and experienced auricular acupressure.
The welcome dinner marks the opening of the Partners Week.
To enhance participants’ understanding of different sectors in Hong Kong, distinguished speakers from prominent organisations were invited to share their expertise. Representatives from HSBC and M+ Museum discussed Hong Kong’s pivotal role as a global financial hub and its leading art and culture scene. The week concluded with a tour of Yim Tin Tsai and guided visit to the Palace Museum, offering a glimpse into Hong Kong and China’s rich history, art and cultural heritage.
Universities in Hong Kong have strong and extensive student exchange programmes which significantly contribute to campus internationalisation. By strengthening ties with partners overseas, universities in Hong Kong will continue to promote higher education in the city, reinforce the exchange of students and enhance Hong Kong’s position as an international higher education hub.
The School of Chinese Medicine hosts interactive workshops for participants.
