A 15-member strong CUHK delegation led by Prof. Alan Chan, Provost, participated in the Times Higher Education (THE) Global Sustainable Development Congress held in Bangkok during 10-13 June 2024. Co-hosted by THE and Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the event gathered global thought leaders and innovators to address urgent solutions to the sustainability emergency.

As a regional co-host of the event, CUHK members engaged in various talks and panel discussions to reinforce the University’s leadership in sustainable development. Besides, CUHK hosted an exhibition booth showcasing its groundbreaking research in sustainable development. In recognition of its significant work in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), CUHK has risen 39 places to No. 44 in the newly released THE Impact Rankings 2024.

While in Bangkok, CUHK leadership and colleagues of the Office of Academic Links led by its Director, Ms. Shally Fan, met with several institutions and organisations to explore collaboration opportunities. Prof. Chan led a visit to Chulalongkorn University where he discussed with Acting Vice President Prof. Palanee Ammaranond and other colleagues on ways to strengthen collaborations in student learning and research.
