New UGC funding scheme empowers students’ journey beyond borders

The new UGC Funding Scheme for Global Learning and Experience Programmes encourages and supports the development of new global learning and experience programmes.

The new UGC Funding Scheme for Global Learning and Experience Programmes encourages and supports the development of new global learning and experience programmes.

With funding from the University Grants Committee (UGC), the University has set up the UGC Funding Scheme for Global Learning and Experience Programmes to encourage and support the development of new global learning and experience programmes, including structured exchange programmes, short-term global programmes, global internship and research attachment programmes, and global service-learning programmes.

This scheme aims to develop and offer additional non-local learning opportunities, including those in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, to enable more local undergraduate students to gain academic and cultural exposure outside Hong Kong and to achieve the HKSAR Government’s target of providing non-local learning experiences to approximately 50% of local undergraduate students by 2025-26. Academic units and colleges may apply for funding under the scheme to support students’ intercity travel, accommodation, local transportation, and other programme-related expenses.

The scheme is open for applications from January 2024. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the end of the current academic year or until all designated funding under the scheme is exhausted, whichever is earlier.

For more information of the scheme, please refer to the link or contact Ms. Zita Lui of the Office of Academic Links.
