Nutritionist unveils secret diet of Italian football team
The lecture on the Mediterranean Diet draws great interest from the CUHK community.
CUHK has established partnerships with Italian institutions since 2004 on various fronts, including student exchange, clinical elective exchange, and research collaboration. Recently, the Office of Academic Links, the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education and the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong co-organised a lecture conducted by Mr. Falvio Valletta, Nutritionist of the Italian National Football Team, where he discussed the impact of the Mediterranean Diet on nutrition and athletic performance.
The Mediterranean Diet is characterised by the consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, notably olive oil. These elements form a rich source of essential nutrients and antioxidants. Athletes, in particular, benefit from the complex carbohydrates in grains and fruits, which offer sustained energy. Participants of the lecture had the opportunity to learn about the advantages of this dietary model for athletes and individuals seeking a holistic and healthy lifestyle.
The lecture promoted a better understanding of health and wellness and fostered knowledge exchange through international collaborations.
